We offer FREE local delivery to your home or place of business. Just think...you will never again have to lug those heavy bags of pet food through the store, to and from your car and into your house. ATG will even bring your food inside and put it away if you need us to.

It's FREE with just a few simple requirements. You must:

  • Be within 40 miles of Montevallo, AL (35115)
  • Order a minimum of $40 (before sales tax)
  • Note: There is a special delivery fee of $5 for orders not meeting the $40 minimum.

How can Against The Grain (ATG) afford to deliver at no charge?

We group orders together by locality and organize deliveries along certain routes. A delivery schedule will be posted in the near future. For now, give ATG a call or send an email to see when we will be in your area.

Our FREE delivery area is within a 40-mile radius of the 35115 zip code. The outer perimeter includes Gardendale, Pinson, Prattville, Tuscaloosa and Adamsville. Click here to see the FREE delivery service area.

I am not in your Free Delivery area. Will you still delivery to me?  

Yes!  ATG realizes that rural customers especially need delivery so we provide Extended Area Delivery. This covers the 41-60 mile radius from the 35115 zip code. The outer perimeter goes as far as Northport, Warrior, Pell City, Alex City and Montgomery.  Click here to see our Extended Area Delivery zip codes. Is there a charge for Extended Area Delivery?

Yes, it is $5 per delivery. *In certain situations such as very large orders ($500 and up) or multiple orders in the same area, the delivery fee can be waived. Tell a friend or neighbor! Get them to order when you do.

What do I do if I forgot to order and I am almost out of food?

Don't worry. ATG will arrange to deliver your order as soon as possible or meet you at a convenient location. Ask about Automatic Delivery and never have that worry again.

What is Automatic Delivery?

With Automatic Delivery, you never need to worry about running out of food. ATG does all the remembering for you! Our system keeps track of all the orders you place with us. We will help you figure out just how often your pet needs food then will add you to the routine schedule. ATG will contact you a few days before your delivery as a reminder and opportunity to change your order if need be. On your scheduled day, your order reliably appears on your doorstep. Take advantage of this unique feature to optimize your delivery experience with Against The Grain Pet Nutrition.

We also recommend setting up Automatic Delivery with a Visa, Discover or MasterCard account. (That way you do not have to remember to write us a check!)

Do I need to be home to accept delivery?

No, you do not need to be at home to accept a delivery. In fact, most customers are not. We cannot predict the precise time of day your delivery will arrive. However, all deliveries are made during day light hours.

We will leave your order by the front door in an inconspicuous location out of the elements, unless otherwise instructed.  Please remember that no aggressive or protective pets should have access to this area. *If you live in a gated community, please be sure to add ATG to your visitors list or provide the access code.

Will you bring my order inside and put it away for me?

Absolutely, it's part of our service! If you are home, we will be glad to bring your order in and put it away for you. We know many of our delivery customers are unable to lift and carry heavy items. And we love visiting with you and our 4 legged customers!

Do you deliver raw frozen orders?

Yes! If you are not home to accept your delivery, it can be left in a cooler outside. We recommend your cooler be placed in a discreet location and be large enough to accommodate your entire raw order. The food will stay frozen for up to 8 hours in the cooler.

*When you place your order with us, please indicate the location of your cooler.

ATG will not leave raw orders without a cooler in the summer months if no one is home.

What are your payment terms?

  • Payment is due at the time of service. We do not bill or extend credit. It is okay if you leave a check out for the delivery driver. However, failure to do so repeatedly will require you to pre-pay before delivery.
  • We accept cash, personal checks, Paypal and credit cards - Visa, Discover and MasterCard.
  • Auto Deliver customers are encouraged to pay by credit card or pay ahead by cash or check. This way you do not have to remember to leave a check on delivery day.
  • There is a $35 charge for returned checks.
  • Past due accounts will be billed and accrue late fee charges of $15/month.
  • Important Announcement - Due to the high cost of processing credit/debit cards, starting April 15th, 2014 there will be a 2.2% convenience fee applied at checkout. Check and cash purchases are not affected by this change.

Can I pick up my order, rather than have it delivered?

Of course! Against The Grain is a home based retail business located in North Chilton County. Our address is 1024 County Road 109, Montevallo, AL  35115

*Please, give us a call before you head over - 205-665-9026. We may be out delivering but by calling ahead, we can arrange to meet you at our store or leave your order in a secure pickup area.

What are your business hours?

Normal business hours are 10 AM until 6 PM Monday through Friday. Closed on Saturdays, Sundays and major holidays.

Do you ship orders?

Yes! ATG will ship most orders via UPS or U.S. Postal Mail.

Frozen orders are shipped UPS Ground. You MUST purchase a cooler at the time you place your order. Failure to do so will delay the processing of your order. The cost of an insulated shipping cooler with gelpacks or dry ice as needed is $25. Repeat customers are encouraged to return the cooler to ATG. This way subsequent orders are not subject to the $25 cooler charge. These are sturdy coolers that will last 3-4 shippings under normal circumstances. Of course when the cooler exceeds it's life expectancy, you will need to purchase another cooler. 

Frozen orders must have no more than a two day transit time and will only ship Monday- Wednesday for this reason. Most UPS ground charges are reasonable, however you can elect to pay expedited shipping if you choose.
